“Nothing is original”

- Austin Kleon

I consider “Steal Like An Artist” by Austin Kleon my creative bible. I consult its words constantly and apply them to just about all aspects of my life. I think my serious addiction to old things is a manifestation of Kleon’s suggestion to find inspiration in the things that already exist. Remixing, reframing (literally) and reinterpreting vintage items is how I enjoy spending the majority of my free time…

My name is Hayley Black, and I’m a current senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying advertising and public relations. I’m energized by understanding brands and clients to deliver unique and authentic work. In a sentence I’m obsessively organized and passionately collaborative.

Building meaningful relationships has always been integral to who I am. After graduating, I hope to work in an account management role, building meaningful connections that create effective, thoughtful solutions.

My Top 3 Old Things…

My collection of eclectic vintage ads from Milan, Italy and Charlotte, NC in frames that I thrifted.

This pair of brass cats of which I am still on the hunt for the third (the smallest of the set).

Floral antique cake plates from Floyd, VA. Many, many desserts have been served on these.
